Tesla Model X: Cover - Seat Back - Driver's (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Move the driver's seat fully forward.
  2. Starting from the top of the seat back cover, use a trim tool to release the clips (x12) that secure the seat back cover.

    Caution: The carpet is still attached to the bottom of the seat back cover.

    Caution: Take care not to damage component(s).

  3. Release the clips (x3) that secure the carpet to the bottom of the seat back cover.

  4. Remove the seat back cover. Place the seat back cover on a soft, clean surface.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Caution: Replace any broken clips.

Caution: Take care not to scratch or damage the outside of the seat back cover during handling.

  1. Ensure that the foam piece did not fall from the rear of the headrest.

  2. Install the seat back cover working from the bottom to the top of the seat.
  3. Ensure that the seat back cover is fully secured to the seat.
  4. Return the seat to its original position.

    Removal Ensure that the front wheels are pointed straight ahead. Lock the steering wheel in position. Remove the HV Battery (refer to procedure). Remove the bolt that secures the upper and lower intermediate shafts (torque X Nm).
