Tesla Model X: Front Halfshaft Assembly - LH (Remove and Replace)

Special tool(s) required for this procedure:

1. Remove the front subframe (refer to procedure).
2. Use a deadblow hammer to release the halfshaft from the hub. Caution: Take care not to damage component(s).
3. Drain the fluid from the front gearbox (refer to procedure).
4. Use the Axle Extractor tool to release the LH halfshaft from the front drive unit.

    

5. Working from the LH wheelwell, remove the halfshaft from the vehicle.

Caution: To avoid damage to the halfshaft boots and oil seals, exercise caution when removing and installing halfshafts.

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following: Fill the drive unit with the correct amount of proper fluid:

• Use the fluid specified in General Information > Fluids and Capacities > Fluids.
• Use the amount specified in General Information > Fluids and Capacities > Fluid Capacities.
