Tesla Model X: Ride Height - Adjust

Setup

  1. Use Toolbox to verify that the "Wheel Type" vehicle configuration variable is correct. If necessary, change the vehicle configuration. Note: Changing the "Wheel Type" configuration variable affects the target calibration height.
  2. Position the vehicle on a flat, level surface that has adequate workspace on the sides of the vehicle.
  3. Adjust the tire pressures to the recommended values. In this manual, refer to General Information > Technical Data > Tire Pressures.
  4. Remove any heavy objects from the vehicle.
  5. Ensure that the steering wheel is centered.
  6. Ensure that there are no people in the vehicle.
  7. Calibrate the ride height measuring tool:
    1. Measure the overall height of the measuring end of the tool.

    2. Adjust the tool to compensate for the measured height. Tighten the knob to secure the adjuster.

Adjustment
  1. Raise the vehicle on a 4-post lift (refer to procedure).
  2. Connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle.
  3. Ensure that the front LH door is closed.
  4. Step on the brake pedal to turn on the drive rails.
  5. In Toolbox, select Panels > Air Suspension > Air Suspension Calibration, then press the Start/Play button. Note: Do not select the panel named "Air Suspension Calibration (Advanced)"
  6. Place the measuring tool on the ground, then measure and record the distance from the ground to the bolt head (front corners) or tip of the bolt (rear corners).

  7. In Toolbox, enter the measured ride heights in the appropriate fields. Press Commit. The vehicle cycles through the different ride heights.
Warning: The vehicle moves up and down during this routine. Stand a safe distance away from the vehicle.
  1. Repeat step 5. Enter the measured ride heights into Toolbox.
  2. When Toolbox displays "Matched Ride Height", click Finish.
  3. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
  4. Drive the vehicle off of the 4-post lift.
