Tesla Model X: Air Spring Module - Rear - RH (Remove and Replace)

Tesla Model X 2015-2024 Service Manual / Suspension / Air Spring Module - Rear - RH (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Position the vehicle on a lift, but do not raise the vehicle at this time.
  2. Open both rear doors and the liftgate.
  3. Connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle.
  4. Use Toolbox to depressurize the RH rear air spring.
  5. Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).
  6. Remove the upper RH parcel shelf support (refer to procedure).
  7. If equipped, remove the subwoofer (refer to procedure).
  8. If equipped, remove the rear duct.

     Air Spring Module - Rear - RH (Remove and Replace)

  9. Remove any insulation that covers the fasteners for the nuts that secure the air spring module. Release the fasteners (x3) (torque 39 Nm).
  10. Loosen the RH wheel lug nuts.
  11. Remove the RH rear arch liner (refer to procedure).
  12. Release the nut that secures the LH rear sir suspension line to the air spring module (torque 2 Nm).

  13. Release the fastener that secures air spring module to the knuckle (torque 140 Nm).
Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  • Repressurize the air spring module.
  • Transfer the vehicle to a 4-post lift.
  • Torque all suspension components while the vehicle is at ride height.

Air Suspension - Depressurize - Full System

Depressurize
  1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle.
  2. Press the brake pedal to turn on the drive rails.
  3. Leave the driver's door open to keep the drive rails on.
  4. Use the Toolbox "Air Suspension Fill/Deflate" panel to depressurize the system.
Pressurize
  1. Press the brake pedal to turn on the drive rails.
  2. Leave the driver's door open to keep the drive rails on.
  3. Use the Toolbox "Air Suspension Fill/Deflate" panel to repressurize the system.
