Tesla Model X: Fascia Assembly - Rear (Remove and Install)

Removal

  1. Prepare a soft, clean area on which to set the fascia after it is removed.
  2. Remove the push clip that secures the bottom of the rear fender garnish to the rear fascia.

  3. Carefully pull the rear of the fender garnish away from the vehicle to release the rearmost heart flex clips (x3).

Caution: Replace any broken clips.

  1. Remove the screw that secures the front of the rear fascia to the quarter panel (torque 1.5 Nm).

  2. Repeat the previous 3 steps on the other side of the vehicle.
  3. Remove the bolts and washers (x11) that secures the mid aero shield to the rear fascia (torque 4 Nm).

  4. On both sides of the vehicle, remove the screw that secures the rear fascia to the body of the vehicle (torque 4.5 Nm).

Note: Some vehicles might have a washer on this fastener. Ensure that the fastener is reinstalled with a washer if the vehicle originally had one.

  1. Remove the lower liftgate trough trim (refer to procedure).
  2. On both sides of the vehicle, remove the bolt that secures the rear fascia to the body of the vehicle (torque 4 Nm).

  3. Carefully pull the rear fascia away from the vehicle to gain access to the rear parking assist harness connector.

Caution: Do not attempt to remove the rear fascia at this point.

  1. Release the edge clip that secures the rear parking assist harness to the body of the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the rear parking assist harness connector.

  3. Remove the rear fascia from the vehicle.
Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following: Check the alignment of the rear fascia to the body and adjust as necessary.
