Tesla Model X: Lamp - Brake - High Mounted (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the active spoiler applique (refer to procedure).
  2. Remove the RH side liftgate trim (refer to procedure).
  3. Remove the RH catch basin cover.
  4. On the RH side of the liftgate, disconnect the high mounted brake lamp electrical connector.

  5. Close the liftgate.
  6. On the RH side of the active spoiler, pull the harness for the high mounted brake lamp through the hole in the active spoiler stanchion.

  7. Release the high mounted brake lamp harness from the channel on the top of the active spoiler.
  8. Remove the bolts (x8) that secure the high mounted brake lamp to the active spoiler (torque 1.5 Nm).

  9. Release the double sided tape that secures the high mounted brake lamp to the active spoiler.
  10. Remove the high mounted brake lamp from the active spoiler.
Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Note: Clean the affected areas before installation.
  1. Replace the double sided tape on the high mounted brake lamp.
  2. Ensure that the high mounted brake lamp harness is routed correctly through the channel on top of the active spoiler.
  3. Press the high mounted brake lamp upwards and inwards to ensure that it is seated properly.
  4. Ensure proper operation of the high mounted brake lamp.

Light - License Plate (Remove and Replace)

Removal
  1. Remove the middle liftgate trim (refer to procedure).
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the license plate light.
  3. Carefully apply pressure to the tab to release the license plate light. Caution: Take care not to damage component(s).
  4. Remove the license plate light from the vehicle.
Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal.
