Tesla Model X: Module - Rear Body Controller - BCM (Remove and Replace)

Removal

1. Open the liftgate.
2. Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).
3. Remove the trunk floor carpet (refer to procedure).
4. Remove the liftgate rear wall trim (refer to procedure).
5. Release the clips that secure the rear body controller module harnesses to the rear wall of the trunk.
6. Remove and discard the nuts (x4) that secure the rear body controller to the studs on the rear wall of the trunk (torque 5 Nm).

    

7. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x5) from the bottom of the rear body controller.

    

8. Remove the rear body controller from the vehicle.

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Caution: The nuts are patched and are 1-time use only.

Replace the nuts.

Perform a firmware update.

Tip: Connect 12V power and start the firmware update before reinstalling the components that were removed for access.
