Tesla Model X: Module - Autopilot - ECU (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the glove box (refer to procedure).
  2. Disconnect 12V power (refer to procedure).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the Autopilot ECU.

  4. Remove the screws (x4) that secure the Autopilot ECU bracket to the cross car beam (torque 3.5 Nm).

  5. Remove the Autopilot ECU and bracket from the vehicle.
  6. Remove the screws (x3) that secure the Autopilot ECU to the bracket (torque 1.4 Nm).

  7. Release the Autopilot ECU from the bracket.
Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following: Use Toolbox to update or redeploy the firmware:

  • If the vehicle is not running the latest firmware, run the "Vehicle Firmware Update" procedure.
  • If the vehicle is running the latest firmware, run the "Firmware Redeploy" procedure.
Calibrate the forward facing camera (refer to procedure).
